Aimaq

The Aimaq people live in Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan. In Afghanistan, there are approximately 480,000 Aimaq speakers who come from Ghor, Herat, Badghis, Farah, and

Faryab provinces. Aimaq (ISO 639-3 [aiq]) is also known as Chahar-Aimaq. The language is so far unwritten, but it is in vigorous use by the community. Language survey work is currently

being done among Aimaq speakers to learn more about this language.
